Antarctica 2018 - 2019
Welcome to Antarctica!
Class Teachers: Miss Whitley
Teaching Assistants: Mrs Boswell
Our topic this term is 'Antarctica'
The children will be set Maths homework every Friday. This will online via MyMaths. All children will have received a letter with login details for this. The homework needs to be compelted by the following Thursday.
In English this half term, our inspirational text is Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. This will grab the children’s attention and ignite an interest into our class topic on Antarctica. We will closely mirror Talk for Writing. The children will imitate the language they need orally before reading and analysing it and then writing their own version.
In Maths this half term, we are looking at Place Value. The children will become confident in identifying, representing and estimating numbers using different representations. They will learn how to find 10, 100 or 1000 more or less than a given number. They will recognise the place value of each digit in a three-digit number or four-digit number and they will compare and order numbers up to 10,000.
Here we will keep you posted with any news from Antarctica!
